Russia 2018 World Cup Preview: Nigeria vs Croatia

– Nigeria will begin their campaign in Group D against Croatia
– Both teams go into the match with poor run of results
– Argentina and Iceland will also lock horns in the other fixture The day of reckoning is finally here as the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be taking on Croatia in their first Group D match.

Both teams have never met in a World Cup tournament or an international engagement but it promises to be an entertaining affair.
The three time African champions had an
impressive run during the qualifiers and made it through at the expense of Zambia, Cameroon, and Algeria.

On the other hand, the Eastern European nation, had to go through the playoffs stage after coming behind Iceland in their group.
The Green and White men had only managed one win against Poland in the warm up friendly losing to Serbia, England and the Czech Republic, while they managed a 1-1 draw against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Super Eagles highest finish in a World Cup competition is the second round, a feat they achieved in 1994 in the United States and 1998 in France.
Croatia’s best finish at the finals was in 1998 where they remarkably came third in team led by their inspirational captain Davor Sucker.

Argentina and Iceland who are the other contenders in Group D will trade tackles in the early kick-off.
